For the moment, this page is little more than a links page. More's the pity.

First and foremost, Overland East, an English, Scottish, and Contra dance band in which I play whistle and guitar. English country dance is a traditional style of folkdance dating back some 400 years. Scottish dancing is a little newer, and Contra dancing is a uniquely American style of folkd dance that has evolved from English, Scottish, and other sources. The "whistle" is an Irish folk instrument, similar to a recorder, but with fewwer holes and a breathier tone. We play a few Irish tunes as well, but generally not for dancing.

To find out more about Scottish Country Dancing, visit the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society, a worldwide organization. There are branches all over the place, including the Delaware Valley, which includes the Philadelphia area.
The Germantown Country Dancers, a local English Country Dance group, also have their own website. Not quite coincidentally, both of the above local groups have sites hosted by M3iP.
